To what extent do implementation reports reflect the provisions of preceding peace agreements and how does this relate to the progress of a peace process?
This question can be answered by finding provisions in peace agreements that are semantically similar to sections in later implementation reports. This process is referred to as semantic mapping, where report sections are said to be mapped by agreement provisions.
The demonstrator illustrates the mapping process using peace agreements from the Phillipines, South Sudan, and Ukraine. A high number of semantically similar provision-section pairs indicates the degree to which agreement provisions determine the content of implementation reports. This influence may reflect both implemented, poorly implemented, or unimplemented provisions.
